These photos were taken on the night of Tuesday 13th August when Balmaghie Kirk organised an evening for all to watch the Perseid Meteorite Shower, as expected about that time.
Around 15 or 16 people gathered outside the Kirk on a very mild night to watch this long-awaited extravaganza from the comfort of their garden chairs. A modicum of wine helped the morale, but some cloud obscured the sky.
Nevertheless, one or two enthusiasts were lucky enough to observe an odd shooting star: everyone else either believed them or humoured them. However, good company and enjoyable chat reduced the concentration span.
Later on, some warming soup and light bites were much appreciated by all. The image in the Kirk was an image of the night sky projected onto the wall of the Kirk; the second image is of the moon through the cloud above the gravestones.
