We are holding our first SR Crockett Classic Car Run this Sunday starting at the Market Hill in Castle Douglas, driving through the beautiful Galloway countryside, following a route which covers many of the places associated with the author in both fact and fiction and ending at Balmaghie Kirk, the final resting place of Crockett. The Car Run will start at 1pm from the Market Hill and finish around 4.30pm at Balmaghie Kirk.
The Kirk will also be open this Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June from 9am to 6pm and there will a short video playing in the Kirk by Cally Phillips (gallowayraiders.co.uk) giving an insight into Crockett’s life, and his novels. His novel Vida (1908) features what is arguably the first car chase in fiction and the inspiration for our Classic Car Run – although no chasing on Sunday!
It’s not too late to enter or please come along and see these incredible classic cars covering over 85 years of car design at the start of the Run before 1pm on the Market Hill or at the finish at Balmaghie Kirk around 4.30pm.
There will also be a raffle held at the end of the Run for a very special bottle of SR Crockett Classic Car Run 2023 Dry Gin, generously donated by Donald Reid.
Refreshments will be served in the Hall at the end of the Run.
